Athletic Director Julie Treadwell was recently named the Maryland State Athletic Directors Association's (MSADA) Athletic Director of the Year! Treadwell was selected from the organization's district winners to receive the overall state award.
"I am very humbled to have received this award. This job is so multidimensional and I have to share the credit. It takes many people that help every day to get things done as an AD, and I am really lucky to have people working with me that help make things happen for our school and our girls around athletics," Treadwell said.
Treadwell began her career in athletics at Maine Central Institute, where she spent 24 years before coming to Holton in 2008. Since then, she has been instrumental in moving the athletic department forward in so many ways. She hired all but one of our current varsity head coaches, and cheered as Holton teams won more than 20 championships.
Outside of Holton, she has helped lead a number of important initiatives for the Independent School League (ISL), including looking at the number of games played by each team, post-season awards, and a transgender committee charged with creating guidelines that ensure that all girls who identify as female have the chance to participate in ISL sports. In addition, she is currently the head of the Mid-Atlantic Girls Hockey League. On a national level, Treadwell continues to give back by teaching for the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
Congratulations, Julie Treadwell, on this well-deserved award!
