Neena Passi '07, Resident Physician at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, was recently featured in an online podcast named "Learn.Educate.Discover." This podcast solicits expert advice from professionals in a range of careers for individuals who are interested in learning about a different profession.
Passi's interview focused on the day-to-day schedule of being a doctor, the process of getting into medical school and residency, and the necessary characteristics for a person to properly succeed in the medical field. She commented in the podcast that being a doctor allows her to be a "learner, leader, and educator" simultaneously.
Passi attended an accelerated B.A./M.D. program at George Washington University for seven years before starting her residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. From an early age, she had an interest in medicine because it combined her love of the sciences as well as her love of helping others. "My time at Holton-Arms truly inspired me to lead a life of positive influence. I was first drawn to health sciences while studying at Holton, and I can't thank the faculty enough for their supportive encouragement to pursue my interests outside the classroom. I see this tradition being continued even further and I was recently amazed to see the new STEM Scholars initiative. Programs like these are a great way for Holton girls to get real-world exposure to the field of research and science. I'm confident that Holton will inspire other girls in the way that it shaped me." Cheryl Hansen, Pure and Applied Sciences Department Chair, remarked that Neena was her first science research intern!
Passi plans to focus on internal medicine with a specialty focus on cardiology. Good luck with your future endeavors in medicine, Neena!
