LS SUMMER READING CELEBRATION, SEPT. 16

Friday, September 16 marks our eighth year of bringing our Lower School community together to celebrate summer reading. We will pause our regular school schedule so that our rising LS leaders in grade 6 can lead cross-grade groups in discussions and activities based on the all school read, Mirror. The art component of our celebration is inspired by the collage technique used by author/illustrator Jeanie Baker who will provide an opportunity for our girls to share about their own lives. To prepare for this activity, we ask that your daughter bring in a collection of small images that represent important aspects of her life to be used in creating her own collage. When thinking about what images to bring in, the following questions may help: What activities, people, objects do I value most? What are some important traditions in my family and/or culture?

Our day will conclude with an all Lower School DEAR time (Drop Everything and Read) so we also ask that all students come to school with an independent reading book.

The Lower School Summer Reading Celebration is a wonderful day of building community and celebrating reading and sets the stage for a year filled with collaboration and sharing.
