Beverley Haynes Johnson '60, who is the president and CEO of the Institute for Patient and Family-Centered Care, has been awarded the Edward R. Loveland Memorial Award from the American College of Physicians.
The award is given by the American College of Physicians (ACP) and recognizes a person or organization for a distinguished contribution in the health field. According to the ACP, Beverley "has provided technical assistance and consultation for advancing the practice of patient and family-centered care to over 300 hospitals, health systems, federal, state, provincial agencies, military treatment facilities, and community organizations. She assists hospitals and ambulatory programs with changing organizational culture, facilitation of visioning retreats, and the integration of patient and family-centered concepts in policies, programs, and practices, as well as in facility design and the education of health care professionals. She has also been published widely on patient and family-centered issues and strategies."
Johnson has received previous honors for her work in promoting optimal environments for high risk infants and their families, humanitarian efforts in pediatric nursing, and outstanding contribution honors for her work for the National Perinatal Association to name a few.
Ms. Johnson will be honored with the Edward R. Loveland Memorial Award at ACP's Convocation Ceremony on Thursday, March 30, 2017 during its annual scientific conference, Internal Medicine Meeting 2017.
