Varsity swimming and diving's Jing-E Tan '19 and Sydney Mathis '17 have been selected by the Holton Athletic Association (HAA) as "Panthers of the Week" for their performance throughout the season.

Tan has just come off an unprecedented championship run over the last three weeks where she helped bring home an ISL title, a WMPSSDL title, and just recently a fourth place finish at the METRO Championships. During this run, she set three new school records (200 Medley Relay, 200 Individual Medley, and the 100 Back), one league record (200 Medley Relay) , and is the METRO champion in the 200 Individual Medley dropping five seconds to not only shatter our school record, but win this event at METROS, the area's most competitive meet. Tan's backstroke and IM times are also All-American consideration times which puts her in elite company within the country.

Senior captain, Sydney Mathis has put together one of the most impressive sprinting careers during her time here at Holton. She recently helped to bring the ISL and WMPSSDL titles back to Holton and played a huge role in this year's fourth place finish at the METRO Championships. Mathis set a new meet record in the 50 free at ISL's with an All-American time which makes her one of the top sprinters in the area.

Coach Graham Westerberg commented, "I am extremely proud of both individuals for their commitment Holton swimming. Sydney's leadership in and out of the pool have helped to give success to this year's team. Being new to the school, Jing's excitement to participate in high school swimming, brought her much success and motivation to compete at the highest level."

Congratulations to Jing-E Tan '19, Sydney Mathis '17, and the entire varsity swimming and diving team for a wonderful 2016-17 swim season!
