In my last post, I wrote about the advantages of diversity for students (and adults) of all backgrounds. This week, I want to examine some research on the impact of diversity on individuals' experience, especially our black students. Understanding these dynamics ultimately gives us direction about how we can help all our students' reach their potentials. It's not enough just to have a diverse population, which Holton does; we need to be thoughtful about the experience of people who represent diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and strengths and weaknesses.
