Middle and Upper School math teacher Alessandra King is currently highlighted on educational website Edutopia for her feature titled, "Finding the Beauty of Math Outside of Class." This featured article details a recent Holton Middle School Outside-the-Box Day where Grade 7 students participated in a math trail field trip in Washington, D.C. The article goes on to explain how math trails can be interdisciplinary, created in any location, and used for both Middle and Upper School programming. "Math trails are cooperative - not competitive, as mathematics learning is often seen - and they offer the opportunity of doing and talking about math," shared Ms. King on Edutopia's website.
Edutopia is an online community of educators sharing articles, resources, and highlighted programs in grades K-12. You can read more of Ms.King's Edutopia article here and discover the power of math trails.
