Varsity basketball player, Kyley Rymsza '20 and varsity ice hockey's Ceci Gichner '18 have been selected by the Holton Athletic Association (HAA) as Panthers of the Week!

The sophomore captain, Rymsza made her presence known last year as a freshmen starter. After being elected as a captain this season, her new role has forced her to expand her influence beyond the scoreboard. Her leadership has helped to provide a solid foundation for the start of the season. Through the first four games, not only did she contribute and average of 17.5 points, 8 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks, but more importantly Rymsza brought intensity, passion and focus each time she has stepped onto the floor. "She wants to see this team succeed and will do whatever is asked from the coaching staff. We are excited to see Kyley's growth throughout the season and look forward to seeing her become one of the best post players in the ISL," commented coach Fernandes.

Second year captain, Gichner already has one season of leadership under her belt. As a four year member of the varsity team, she knows what it takes to compete not only with the best teams in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area, but with their Pennsylvania and New Jersey opponents too. This year Gichner is not only focusing on team dynamics and building comradery, she's leading by example and getting the job done. She has scored a point in every game, and put up a hat trick (3 goals) against Spalding to give the Panthers a comfortable 4-1 victory. She is already halfway to her personal points total from last year! "Productive, you say? Yes. Her line, thus far, accounts for approximately 60% of the team's scoring totals," commented Coach Arledge.

You can check out Kyley and the varsity basketball team as they take on the National Cathedral School, at 4:15 p.m. at home today, Friday, January 19.
