AP Economics teacher Craig Falk shared with The Scene about a trip his Upper School class took to The Brookings Institution, a non-profit public policy organization based in Washington, DC with a "mission to conduct in-depth research that leads to new ideas for solving problems facing society at the local, national and global level."

The Economics Class visited The Brookings Institution last Thursday, March 1, to meet with Alice Rivlin, former vice-chair of the Federal Reserve Bank, former Director of the Office of Management and Budget, and founding Director of the Congressional Budget Office. Dr. Rivlin still works at the Brookings developing policy, guiding research, and writing books at the age of 87! She talked to our students about careers in policy, the study of economics, and the challenges and opportunities that she has encountered and enjoyed in her career. She also shared some stories about discrimination against women that she encountered and that had been common in her early career.
