Greetings All,
I hope that your week was a good one as the month of July moves along. Our summer weekend building hour schedule continues as the campus will be closed this Saturday and Sunday. Provisions are in place to support the construction work occurring on campus over the weekend.
Travel remains a major component of many summertime activities. Accordingly when given the opportunity, I will always try to pass along any pertinent information regarding potential challenges. Interstate 395 and the G.W. Parkway certainly represent two major area transportation arteries. Ongoing work projects are occurring on those routes that we should take notice of. On the positive side, these specific projects are slated to be completed before the return of post-Labor Day commuter traffic activity. The projects are outlined as follows:
I-395 Northbound Bridge Restoration Project Work
This work directed at bridges will necessitate closures between the Springfield Interchange (otherwise known as the "mixing bowl") and the D.C. line. That span represents a long stretch of the northbound interstate and thus we can expect some ramifications. Repairs are scheduled to begin at 10 pm this evening and continue until Sunday afternoon. That same time period (which of course involves the weekend) , will continue for the next six weeks as weather permits. For further information please refer to the following link:

GW Parkway Bridge Restoration Project Work
Once again this work is centered around infrastructure restoration. The 60-year-old bridge at Windy Run (located between Rte. 123 and the Spout Run Parkway) will be the target of these efforts. The delicate "balancing act" here will involve the logistical rerouting of travel lanes along the GW Parkway within the impacted areas. Those intricate details are too lengthy to discuss, however once again a link has been provided.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend my friends.
