NHL.com recently interviewed Holton ice hockey coach Emily Wilde '09 about girls ice hockey, its growth, and its impact. The piece was part of the National Hockey League's celebration of Gender Equality in Hockey Month this March.
In her Q&A, Ms. Wilde recalls being named to the Washington Post All-Met Ice Hockey Team. "I remember going to the luncheon when I was a senior and when all the hockey players were recognized, two boys looked at me and asked, 'Why is she here?' I don't think that would happen now," she told NHL.com.
