Varsity Field Hockey's Ceci Gichner '18 and Varsity Cross Country's Reilly Anderson '16 were selected by HAA as "Panther of the Week."
If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Ceci Gichner, you won't truly understand the joy and enthusiasm she brings to a team. This enthusiasm has been particularly needed on this year's varsity field hockey team as their season has been made up many close games that have not ended their way. Gichner's positive outlook and desire to improve have helped to keep the entire team focused on moving forward welcoming each new challenge. Gichner has started every game and played almost every position on the field in an effort to help her team. Her coaches comment, "Whether on the sideline cheering or on the field encouraging, she makes everyone on the team feel special. She is quick to thank a player who challenges her on the field, and she always looks for ways to get better. Her coaches and teammates look forward to practice because her smile and enthusiasm greet them every day."
Senior Captain Reilly Anderson '16 joined the cross country team her freshmen year. Over the past four years Anderson has been fully committed to running, and improving her times. This year she was chosen by her teammates as captain, a role she filled beyond anyone's expectation. Not only does she lead by example by putting in exceptional effort at practices and listening to the coaches' suggestion, but she constantly cheers for her teammates and encourages them to meet their goals. Anderson's efforts have paid off, she set a personal record in the 5K and has been a top 5 runner for the team all season long.
