In this adaptation of Shakespeare's famous classic, the role of Hamlet is deftly shared by five Middle School actors – Jiya Arora '21, Brielle Herlein '21, Micaela Lamas '20, Paige Magid '20 and Allie Stroman '21. They work as an ensemble with the rest of the cast to tell this chilling tale of power and revenge. Skye Worster '20 is the power-hungry King Claudius, joined in infamy by Queen Gertrude, Celina Fratzcher '21. Sydney Wittstock-McDonald '21 plays the tortured Ophelia with her overbearing father Polonius, and heroic brother Laertes, played by Josephine Stark '21 and Ashley Zolfghari '20. Avery Zolfghari '21 and Ava Bubbosh '21 appear as the tragic duo, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, while Emily Shaland '21 plays the role of Horatio, Hamlet's best friend and confidant. This talented cast is rounded out by Caroline Karsner '20 as the colorful Osric, Aisling Mockler '20 as the twistedly funny gravedigger, Anushka Dar '21 as the ghost of King Hamlet, and Nadia Johnson '21 with Ema Nakayama '21 as the stalwart watchmen who start Hamlet off on his tragic journey.
Adapted and directed by Mark Robinson with additional technical support by Holton's first ever Middle School theater tech crew (Anu Desai '20, Mimi Hansen-Erraziqi '20, Ashley Mahoney '20, and Anna Sophia Steinki '20). Hamlet performs for one night only on Friday, November 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Diana Coulton Beebe Black Box Theater.
