Dr. Dale also focuses on the application of these skills to areas outside of athletics. Members of the Holton Athletic Association (HAA) and team captains will be attending a special presentation focusing on building team chemistry and being an effective leader.
Parents of the entire Holton community along with parents from the ISL, MAC, and IAC leagues are invited to attend a presentation on Tuesday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the James Whittier Lewis Theater. This presentation is mainly geared toward Upper School parents focusing on "Helping your child maximize her potential." Dr. Dale will discuss the crucial role a parent plays in determining whether or not children have a positive experience in sport. This thought provoking workshop encourages parents to analyze the type of environment they are creating for their children. Topics covered in this workshop include; the significance of the coach-athlete-parent triangle, lessons parents want children to learn from sport and the importance of modeling those lessons, and effective goal-setting that parents can use with their children.
The following night, Wednesday, December 2 at 7:00 p.m. Holton coaches along with other coaches from the ISL, MAC, and IAC leagues will be participating in another workshop based on his book entitled, The Seven Secrets of Successful Coaches: How to Unlock and Unleash Your Team's Full Potential. It emphasizes the importance of earning credibility with athletes as well as the dynamics of group development and productivity. He will discuss numerous recommendations to build effective leadership skills while also building high performing teams.
