Greetings All,

I hope that this week has been a good one. The arrival of Super Bowl Weekend is always a unique experience. I will expand on that point a little bit later, but for now let us simply celebrate the completion of another week. My goodness, there were a number of accomplishments achieved throughout the Holton Community over the past week. I unfortunately cannot begin to acknowledge them all. However, I think that a feasible thing for me to do is to offer a collective, but yet sincere note recognizing those achievements. Empowering the strength of a community for the collective good is always a positive initiative. On that note, we wish all of our girls competing
in events this weekend the very best. Go Panthers.

The weekend building hours for February 6-7, 2016 are posted below. It is an event filled weekend which is certainly not unexpected in our school community. Speaking of events, for those of you attending the Orchesis Performance tonight we know that you will have an enjoyable evening. I should also note that my good friends in the Facilities Department wanted me to express their sincere gratitude for the tributes that were bestowed upon them from the student body. Thank you.

In closing I want to wish all of my colleagues a safe and relaxing weekend. It is of course once again a Super Bowl Weekend. It is not just a Super Bowl, but it is the 50th Anniversary of this unique component of American Culture. With all of the pageantry and even controversy that sometimes surrounds the game, this event remains a marketing fantasy. It will be interesting to see what the television ratings ultimately reveal for this particular game. My guess is that they will be significant. Hmm, I guess you know that you are "getting up there" when you can recall all 50 Super Bowls. One of my favorite sports childhood memories involves watching Super Bowl III between the Baltimore Colts and the New York Jets. It was a special moment and I thought that Joe Namath was pretty cool because he wore white cleats. My Uncle Jim was also the first in the family to get a color television so we went to his house for the game. The television was about the size of a condominium and most of the people were green, but we loved it. Besides some occasional cigarette smoke and hearing a few choice words when the picture went out, I had the time of my life. The Jets won by the way in one of the greatest sports upsets of that era.

Thank you for allowing me to share a moment with you. Take care everyone.

Ken
