I hope that your week has been a good one. Although this represents an abbreviated edition of the weekend building hours, positive karma continues to reign supreme. If you are planning on heading into Downtown DC this weekend, be mindful of several events that will be taking place. Prominent among those activities will be the 2016 Latino Festival also known as Fiesta DC. The hub of this event will occur on Pennsylvania Avenue between 9th and 4th Streets, NW. If you plan on driving near the National Mall, be mindful of increased pedestrian activity and street closures. In the interest of future planning, the weekend of September 24-25 will also be a busy one for the downtown area. That weekend will mark the official dedication of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Large crowds are expected in the Nation's Capital for that historical event. We will talk more about those significant dates at a later time.
The weekend building hours for September 17-18, 2016 are posted below. Provisions are in place for numerous activities taking place including the US Grade 11 Barbeque and Capital Educators. On behalf of the entire Facilities Department, I would like to wish all of my colleagues a safe and enjoyable weekend. Remember that Operation Safetrack continues to impact Metrorail operations. Ramifications from that work have included an increasing number of commuters taking to our area roadways. Please give yourself some extra time during those weekday morning journeys. Oh my goodness, the tales we can tell about the Capital Beltway.
