Congratulations to the varsity swimming and diving team for bringing home another championship! Over the weekend, the team participated in the Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swimming and Diving League (WMPSSDL) Championship and came out on top with a 321 point victory!
In the past four years, Holton has won this event three times. Last year, however, they had a disappointing fourthplace finish. This year's team was eager to return the championship to Holton, especially after their solid performance in the ISL Championships. The girls didn't disappoint. Coach Westerberg stated, "This was a true team effort. Anytime you're competing against 30 of the top teams in the area you know your competition is going to be strong. Our girls swam very well particularly in the morning, which set us up for a solid finals. We relied on our depth to carry us through the evening." Earning 53.5 points more than Our Lady of Good Counsel, the second place team, Holton certainly relied on every finish to help earn the championship.
In addition to winning the championship, Holton set three new school records! The 200 Medley Relay team made up of Jing Tan '19, Rachel Blackwell '20, Jillian Johnson '20, Erica Robison '18; Olivia Jubin '19 in the 200IM; and Jing Tan '19 in the 100 Back.
"It's awesome to bring the WMPSSDL Championship back to Holton. Now we will gear up for our final run this weekend at METROS!" commented Coach Westerberg.
