Around 50 Lower School students, parents, and teachers assembled in the Dining Room the morning of Feb. 4 to make sandwiches for Martha's Table, a DC-based organization works "to support strong children, strong families, and strong communities by increasing access to quality education programs, healthy food, and family supports." The Holton group made nearly 650 sandwiches, and had lots of fun in the process.
"I was moved, once again, to see how our students happily and diligently made hundreds of delicious sandwiches for a meaningful cause," says teacher Claudia Chadwick Langbehn. "I especially enjoyed seeing some Upper School girls spontaneously join in."
The educator and annual participant highly recommends the event to all members of the Holton family. Typically, the efforts take place on the national Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service; this year, however, sandwich-making was rescheduled due to weather.
