The Holton track & field team is having one of the best seasons in recent history! The team has won four meets this season, beating their opponents by an average of 76 points! Along the way, they have had outstanding team and individual performances including breaking and re-breaking school records. This weekend, Holton will host the ISL Championships Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13.
Beginning with the Landon Relays on April 8, Holton track & field had strong back-to-back wins before seeing some strong nationally ranked competition at the Bullis Invitational on April 15. Holton had one of its best showings in recent years finishing eighth out of over 60 schools. Additionally, four school records were broken! Freshmen Maya Valmon '20 and Francesca Cetta '20 made an immediate impact setting a new 100 M record with a time of 11.97 seconds and 800 M record with a time of 2:23.43 respectively. Kristen Bitsberger '18, Elizabeth Marsh '18, Shifra Eskin '20, and Francesca Cetta '20 also set a new distance medley relay record with a time of 13:16.77 beating the previous record by 37 seconds!
This past weekend, Holton had another strong showing at the Draper's Invitational finishing third out of 25 teams. Kristen Bitsberger '18 finished first in the 3200 M, Maya Valmon '20 finished first in the 200 M setting another school record with a time of 25 seconds. Francesca Cetta '20 placed second in the 800 M, beating her own school record with a time of 2:17.87. Lastly, the 4 x 100 M relay team of Taylor Simpson '17, Maya Valmon '20, Asha Romaine '19, and Eliza Gichner '20 also finished first and set a new school record with a time of 50 seconds!
