Nineteen student artists from Holton-Arms were recognized by Rep. Jamie B. Raskin of Maryland in the 2017 Congressional Art Competition. Every spring, members of the U.S. House of Representatives each sponsor a high school arts competition to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in their respective Congressional Districts. The first-place artwork for each district is displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

At the May 7 ceremony, Rep. Raskin personally presented each student with a Congressional Certificate of Participation.

"It is an honor to represent Maryland's 8th District, which is home to great art and so many talented student artists," said Raskin. "We have been blown away by the breadth and depth of the student submissions we received this year. I commend all of the student artists who submitted their work and all the family members, educators, friends, and community members who supported these enormously talented students."

With 98 student pieces submitted and 55 chosen for display in the 8th Congressional District of Maryland Competition Exhibition, Holton's 19 pieces make an impressive showing.
